Republicans on a state Senate panel voted Wednesday to forbid the use of drop boxes to gather mail-in ballots, the latest proposed restriction on voting in the state and a move that was condemned by county elections officials of both parties. The bill was a “travesty,” said Republican Lake County elections chief Alan Hays, adding that it would play “havoc with the lives of 1.5 million Floridians.”
