Lightning deaths low in 2020, but Florida still leads nation as COVID-19 muddies reporting

National coverage of lightning deaths was diminished amid hurricanes, wildfires and coronavirus, but Florida was among the leaders again. The running total of lightning deaths in the country thus far is 17, according to the National Lightning Safety Council.
